About
About this planner
Alarm System Cape Town is a free tool that helps you work out what a typical alarm system for your home or business would include, before you speak to an installer.
Who publishes it
This site is published by WP Security, a Cape Town security company that installs alarm systems. We have a commercial interest: if you ask WP Security for an assessment, it may become a customer. Every link and panel that promotes WP Security is labelled, and the planner and checklist are free to use with or without it.
What the planner does
You answer six questions about your property. The planner turns your answers into a list of devices, a list of features to ask for, and a checklist of questions for any installer. It does not recommend a brand, and it shows no prices.
How your plan is worked out
- Every outside door gets a door contact.
- Motion detectors: one per level, plus one for every four ground-floor windows, plus one for a stockroom or cash area in a business.
- Ground-floor windows that open get a window contact or a glass-break detector.
- A second keypad if there is an upper level.
- Pets change the type of motion detector, not the number.
- Battery advice follows how long your power cuts last.
These are general rules of thumb for a typical starting point. They are not an engineering design.
What it is not
It is not a quote, a security survey, an insurance requirement or professional advice. Only a site visit shows how your own property, walls, layout and neighbourhood affect the design. Check your insurer's requirements before you buy.
Privacy
The planner works in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere while you use it.
If you press “Yes, book my free assessment”, fill in the form, tick the box and send it, we send your plan and the details you typed to WP Security, the company that publishes this site. That is your name, mobile number and suburb, and any email, street address or notes you add. They are saved in WP Security’s customer records and emailed to its team so they can contact you about your free assessment. They are used for that and nothing else.
Your browser keeps one small note on your device, the time you last sent a plan, to stop an accidental double send.
This site does not use cookies or analytics.
Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which can see your IP address, as any website you visit does.
To ask WP Security to correct or delete your details, email admin@wpsecurity.co.za or call 087 808 3665. Links to wpsecurity.co.za are covered by that site’s own notice.
